Where to Stay on Egypt’s Red Sea

The Red Sea is a region, not a single booking destination. Start with your accommodation style, airport and the activities that matter. For a long weekend, one well-chosen base usually works better than moving between distant resorts.

El Gouna

A town-and-beach base for marina evenings, independent dining and private boat enquiries.

Soma Bay

Consider a resort-focused stay when beach facilities, watersports and quieter evenings matter most.

Marsa Alam

A southern-coast option for a holiday centred on the sea. Choose your exact resort before comparing airport transfers.

Dahab

On the Sinai side, consider a smaller-scale coastal stay with a different arrival route from the Hurghada area.

Sharm El Sheikh

A Sinai resort base: compare the exact bay, beach access and distance to the outings you want before choosing a hotel.

Nuweiba

For a quieter Gulf of Aqaba stay, check the accommodation facilities and arrival journey rather than assuming a large-resort setup.

Mainland coast or the Sinai side?

El Gouna, Somabay and Marsa Alam are on the mainland coast. Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab and Nuweiba are in Sinai, with Dahab and Nuweiba on the Gulf of Aqaba. A short-looking distance on a map does not mean an easy transfer between any two bases. Choose the airport and accommodation first, then build a workable arrival route rather than combining distant places in a short break.

Plan arrival and your sea day

Count the first and last day against your actual flights. Confirm which beach facilities your stay includes and leave the boat day flexible for weather. Compare accommodation, transfers, meals and activities in the same currency, with exclusions made explicit.
